How do I convert my .HEIF photos to JPG?


First, copy the .HEIF photos to a Windows PC

If the photos you need to convert are still on your Samsung or iPhone, you will need to copy them to the PC first.

If your photos are already on your PC, simply skip the step where I show how to drag and drop photos to a folder.

Note that Windows doesn’t support .HEIF by default. It means that to see the thumbnails and view the .HEIF photos, you need a HEIF extension. So, let’s first install it. The app we will install is a plugin, a .HEIF to .PNG converter, and a tool for managing iPhone photos on Windows, all in one. It’s called CopyTrans Studio. I use it for conversion.

  1. Download CopyTrans Studio.exe to your PC, install the program normally (see a setup guide if necessary).

  2. It’s important to restart the PC after the installation. You’ll then be able to see .HEIF thumbnails, view .HEIF photos without conversion, and convert .HEIF to .PNG!

If you have an Android

  1. Connect your device to the PC.
  2. Open a folder on your desktop and then click on “This PC” on the left.
  3. Open your Android folder and drag and drop the pictures to your desktop.

If you have an iPhone

  1. Connect the iPhone to the PC.
  2. Open a folder on your desktop and click on “CopyTrans Studio” on the left.
  3. Click on your iPhone -> Photo Library -> All Photos.

The fastest and easiest way to change a .HEIF into a .PNG directly on the device is to take a screenshot of the picture.
